R.'s life: never a dull moment

Student teaching year began for me today with a handful of pleasant surprises:

P.S. 154 Harriet Tubman is in the heart of West Harlem. And literally thirteen minutes away from home on foot.

The school atmosphere feels bright, warm, clean, and almost homey.

My CT, Miss LaRoche, is Asian-American. Who would've thunk?!

The school actually has several A-A teachers and administrators, including a Fil-Am assistant principal, two Chinese-Fil-Am teachers who are sisters, among others.

Looks to be a great semester ahead.

Also, in the month of August, I:

...moved back to NYC into a cozy two-bedroom apartment with my friend H. We're fans of our pad - hope you are too, if you come by.

...attended a conference in Chicago, met beautiful people who seek to discover God and their Asian-American identity, and toured the city's various ethnic neighborhoods via eating, eating, shopping, taking pictures, and more eating.

...became a Craigslist addict. Free desk, chair, desk lamp, sofa, and orchid - how's that for a first-timer?

Hopefully I will blog with teaching stories in the weeks and months to come. Hopefully.
